Who can benefit from porting and polishing?
Virtually everyone or every engine has restrictions in their heads that
limit their horsepower, torque, RPM, and fuel economy. We've seen some
engines that were limited to 2800 RPM before porting, and others that
couldn't climb a mild grade over 50 mph. However, ported heads will not
overcome bad rings or flat cams, or a stretched timing chain. Power is
made (or lost) in the heads. But if your engine needs rebuilding,
porting is not your answer. Porting is like seasoning on your steak,
but it doesn't cure bad meat! We've ported 4x4's, vans, old station
wagons, straight sixes, V-6's, lawn mowers, log-splitters, race cars,
and work trucks.
Porting is tailored to your vehicle, your needs, and your
budget. Not everyone needs it, and not all vehicles should have it. The
majority of engines have a great need for removing the restrictions
living in their heads.
